Project 1a: Developing an Architectural Posotion and Project

Introduction:

Architecture Design Project is a studio that forms the cap stone project for B.Sc. (Honours)(Architecture) programme, emphasizing on the broad theme of sustaining huminities and resolution of architectural design.

Objectives of Project:

1) Develop a simple brief for an architectural design project.

2) Conduct pre-design analyse to inform the design project.

Learning Outcomes of this Project:

1) Formulate a simple brief that include appropriate architectural programme and planing within a aselcted architectural context.

2) Analyse case studies to gain understanding of architectural responses and strategies of an intentional design strategy to inform the design project.

3) Conduct contextual and user analysis in the pre-design phase.

Project 1b: Design Strategy Proposal

Introduction:

This Project Brief is developed for the second part (Project 1b) of the three-part assessment as follows:

The objectives of Phase 1b are:

To develop a design strategy (to the level of sketch design phase) for your proposed project

Produce a formal architectural design strategy that response to the proposed brief

DESIGN STATEMENT

I WANT TO DESIGN A DYNAMIC CONCRETE BLOCK MAZE WITH DIFFERENT HIERARCHIES FOR MULTIPLE EXPLORATIONS OF KNOWLEDGE AND ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES WHICH ALSO ACTS AS A NETWORK FOR THE COMMUNITY TO EXPLORE, RESEARCH, INSPIRE AND IMAGINE.

INTRODUCTION

The project site is situated in the heart of Seremban. More precisely in Jalan Pato Hamzah, Bandar Seremban. The area is well known its lake which holds history value. There’s also a recreational park next to the lake. However, today the site has been less cared and yet nothing has been done to revitalize it and the new generation forgetting about the community life. Therefore, the aims of the project is to give back the soul of the site and reconnect people in Seremban again.

Project 1c: Detailed Design

Introduction
In addition to students ability to develop their own position within the theme of ‘sustaining humanities’—architecture for people, place and time, one key aspect of the design project is to develop holistic and integrated aspects of technology, environment and cultural context in architectural design. Subsequent to Phase 2: Design Strategy and Sketch Design phase, students are required to develop environmental strategies and technological resolutions with the main intent to strengthen their design exploration/ideas, and complement their design through a comprehensive design report. This phase is carefully integrated with the Building Technology 2 module.

Objectives of Project
The objective of Phase 1c is:

1) To consolidate an understanding of the holistic nature of the architectural design process, to a given degree of detail, with emphasis on design as an integrative process, drawing as appropriate on previous subjects of the program.

Learning Outcomes of this Project
1. Produce design development drawings with a suitable level of complexity

2. Design with considerations of building performance (thermal comfort, acoustic and lighting), regulatory frameworks, health and safety considerations.

3. Produce drawings (both 2D and 3D), modelling, verbal presentation and a design report to communicate and visualize architectural design and ideas.
